そのため、徳川幕府はこの状況が危険だと感じていたのです。

本書では徳川幕府以前にも豊臣秀吉がキリスト教を禁止していましたがそれ以前の時代は違っていたようです。

そこには何らかの深い背景があり重要な事象が起こっていたのでしょう。

This book contains a rare conversation between film director Nagisa Oshima and German photographer Manfred Stumpf.

Its title is "A View to Amakusa Shiro. The book provides background on Manfred Stumpp's interest in Amakusa Shiro and why he decided to hold this exhibition in Yokohama.

The story of Amaksashiro is fascinating in itself, but the fact that he appeared on an important historical stage in Japan also appealed to Manfred Stumpp.

He was involved in the Shimabara Rebellion with many farmers and Christians during the famine of the Kyoho period, the first phase of Japan's isolationist period.

At this time, Japan was forbidding foreigners to land and Christianity was being suppressed. Although he may have already had his own ideas and philosophies, his participation in the rebellion may have made him more aware of the importance of his own ideas.

It does not seem to have happened spontaneously.
His actions may have been the result of being guided by something greater.

Long ago, when Christianity was first introduced to Japan, it spread rapidly.
People were passionate about this new faith.

This was indeed an unusual phenomenon.
Therefore, the Tokugawa Shogunate felt that this situation was dangerous.

This book shows that even before the Tokugawa Shogunate, Toyotomi Hideyoshi had banned Christianity, but earlier times were different.
